Overview
Two-factor authentication (2FA) elevates your account's security by requiring an additional login step before granting access to some of the network resources available through the Central Authentication Service (login.umk.pl).
Employees accessing services such as USOSweb, APD (Theses Archive) or portal praowniczy from outside the university network will be required to provide an additional factor during login in form of a code either received by SMS or generated by an authenticator app (Microsoft Authenticator or Google Authenticator).
Instructions
Configuring an authenticator app
- Install an authenticator app on your mobile phone
- Google Authenticator
- Microsoft Authenticator
- or another app using TOTP
- Log in to Portal Pracowniczy then go to "weryfikacja dwuetapowa" located in the sidebar.
- Open the two-factor authentication form by clicking on "Zmień konfigurację" then choosing "Aplikacja uwierzytelniająca" from the drop-down list.
- Caution! Changes may take up to 15 minutes to take effect.
- Upon next login to Portal Pracowniczy a notification will conclude the configuration process.
Configuring SMS authentication
- Log in to Portal Pracowniczy then go to "weryfikacja dwuetapowa" located in the sidebar.
- Open the two-factor authentication form by clicking "Zmień konfigurację", then choose "Wiadomość SMS" from the drop-down list and proceed with "Przejdź dalej".
- Enter your phone number and proceed.
- Confirm your phone number by entering the code you received by SMS below "Kod uwierzytelniający" and proceed.
- In case a phone number has already been configured and you would like to change it an additional code will be sent to the previous number for verification. Please enter this code in the verification form.
Restoring access to the app
In certain circumstances, such as losing or changing your phone you may request to have your 2FA credentials reset.
This process will erase all credentials linking your UMK account to the authenticator app.
- Log in to Portal Pracowniczy, then go to "weryfikacja dwuetapowa" located in the sidebar.
- Click on "Straciłem dostęp do aplikacji uwierzytelniającej".
- Confirm that you have read the message by checking the box below. Proceed by clicking "Wyślij wniosek".
- You will receive an e-mail confirming the 2FA reset request.
- Processing your request may take up to two business days.
- Once approved you will have to complete the configuration:
- App - go to "https://mfa.uci.umk.pl/" or any other university service secured with 2FA.
- SMS - complete the configuration in Portal Pracowniczy as described above.
